"Our Hometown", a bicentennial mural designed and completed by artist Andrea Grimsley, was dedicated at the 2018 Versailles Pumpkin Show. Andrea engaged over 150 community members from ages 1 to 95 in painting the mural depicting notable sights, individuals, architecture, and groups in the Versailles community.
The town of Versailles was founded on September 21, 1818, just two years after the state of Indiana and Ripley County were established. Versailles became the county seat of Ripley County in May of 1818, and the historic Versailles Square boasts a beautiful three-story Courthouse that was completed 1863.
Main Street Versailles is hosting an all-day Versailles Bicentennial Celebration on July 28, 2018. See the schedule of events below and make plans to join us for a fun day of celebrating our history!
